Why maze solving activities are important

Solving mazes encourages the development of executive skills and strengthens children's visual-motor integration.

As children continuously compare and choose between different alternative paths on their way through the maze, they learn to consider which ones have the best chance of success. At the same time, deciding between different strategies (e.g. choosing between starting from the beginning or working backwards from the end of the maze) also supports the development of executive functioning skills.

Drawing without hitting the boundary lines of the maze strengthens fine motor control of their hands and fingers. Solving mazes also helps develop children's patience and resilience to frustration, and their self-confidence is reinforced as they successfully tackle increasingly difficult challenges.
